As S@S' valued partner on this exciting journey, you and your organization will have access to multiple channels of exposure through our business plan competition and numerous educational events. In between our Official Launch in September 2007 and our Finals in May 2008, S@S' calendar is punctuated with a whole host of events, such as boot camps, seminar series, sharing sessions and workshops. In short, we offer a tremendous platform for publicity through our business plan competition, numerous educational events, website and marketing collaterals. Some channels of exposure that will be available to you and your organization are given below:
Official Launch
The Official Launch for S@S'08 will be held in September 2007. With prominent members of the community as our Guest-of-Honour and Keynote Speaker, this event is guaranteed to generate substantial media hype and attention.
The Official Launch in 2007 was graced by the Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Mr Lee Yi Shyan. The event was well attended by Venture Capitalists, established entrepreneurs, students and senior administrative staff of the National University of Singapore. The event received mention on NewsRadio 93.8FM.
Sharing Sessions, Seminars and Workshops
This year would see S@S'08 organising two unique sets of events. There would be the Youth Category events from September till December 2007 and the Open Category events from January till February 2008.
The Youth Category events will kick-off with the CEO Unplugged series in October 2007, which will see prominent CEOs share their life & business experiences with the audience. An Idea Generation workshop is slated to be held in November 2007 which aims to assist Youth teams in coming up with ideas for their businesses.
The Open Category events are targeted at working professionals who intend to start their own businesses after a stint in their respective industries. As such, a sharing session on the topic "Is your idea worth pursuing?" will be held in January 2008, to allow attendees to quiz our panel of experts on the feasibility of their ideas. Towards the end of January 2008, we will be holding our inaugural "Emerging Industries Seminar" series which will cover upcoming industries such as the Interactive Digital Media Industry, the Web 2.0 industry and others. We will be inviting prominent speakers from these industries to share about the growth opportunities in their respective industry.
In addition to the above-mentioned events, S@S'08 has also plans to work with other organisations to co-organise events entrepreneurship-related events.
Boot Camps
In addition to our very successful Boot Camp for Semi-Finalists in March 2008, S@S'08 will also see the inaugural Youth Business Boot Camp being organised. The Youth Business Boot Camp, which is expected to be held in December 2007, aims to equip Youth participants with the fundamentals of creating a business plan via workshops on developing value propositions, managing financials and pitching their ideas to investors.
Our Boot Camp for semi-finalists held earlier this year, was very well received by participants, mentors and judges. The two-day event saw the exciting Hot Date Pitching Event being organised, in which teams pit themselves against each other to sell their ideas to our large panel of judges, mentors and venture capitalists. On stake were cash prizes and the opportunity to get their ideas heard by potential investors.
Semi-Finals, Finals & Awards Ceremony
The Semi-Finals, Finals & Awards Ceremony will be held in May 2008. With the winners of Start-Up@Singapore 2008 being unveiled, the Awards Ceremony in particular is certain to garner much media attention. The Awards Ceremony held last May saw Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth & Sports, Mr Teo Ser Luck gracing the occasion. The event received mention in the English daily, The Straits Times as well as the Tamil daily, Tamil Murasu.

The Press Department in S@S'08 was established this year with the sole purpose of raising S@S' profile in the media.
