Besides Tom Kosnik, our other invited panelists included Peter Purushotma, Founding Board Member of the Singapore-American Business Association, Koh Soo Boon, Founder of iGlobe Partners and iGlobe Partners Fund, and Eric Lee Smith, a game developer from Philadelphia who awed the audience when he revealed that he had managed to raise angel funding of $2.5 million in just 3 days from Silicon Valley. Eric Tachibana, an angel invester and now Vice President of Global Business Technology at Merrill Lynch, was the moderator for this event

22 Dec 2007 - Winners of Start-Up@Singapore 2007 secure funding from Nanostart AG in Germany, leave IBN to set up its first spin-off
Dr Kim and two researchers will leave IBN to set up Curiox Biosystems in April next year. It is IBN's first spin-off since the institute was set up in March 2003. It is the 36th from an A*Star institution since 2000. Curiox will receive 16.5 percent of its funding from German-based nanotechnology investment company, Nanostart. The rest will be from IBN and A*Star's marketing and commercialisation arm, Exploit Technologies.

12 Dec 2007 - Biz plan contest to pioneer new Youth Boot Camp
Come mid-December, Start-Up@Singapore (S@S) will bring together some 80 handpicked students from colleges and polytechnics across Singapore to teach them the fundamentals required to start their own businesses. Modeled along the lines of S@S' highly successful, two-day Semifinalist Boot Camp, this new Youth Boot Camp is distinguishable by its novel, hands-on and highly interactive Idea Generation workshop to be conducted by Mr Prabhjit Singh from the National Library Board.

20 Oct 2007 - CEO Unplugged oversubscribed by a 100%
With two jam-packed venues and an astonishing turnout of over 350 guests, CEO Unlugged lived up to its billing as one of Start-Up@Singapore 's (S@S') most insightful and inspiring events this year. Scheduled to run from 6.30pm to 8.00pm on 18 October 2007, CEO Unplugged was held at the NUS Business School's Hon Sui Sen Auditorium. S@S' invited CEOs were Mr Adam Khoo (Founder and CEO, Adam Khoo Learning Technologies Group) and Mr Ivan Lee (Founder and CEO, Thai Express).

After a couple of months of transition and team building, S@S kicked off with this year's Official Launch on 15 October 2007 at the SingTel hello! Comcentre near Somerset MRT. Gracing this event as the Guest-of-Honour was Mr Michael Yap, Deputy CEO of the Media Development Authority (MDA) and Executive Director of the Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Programme Office.

16 Oct 2007 - MDA Deputy CEO unveils key IDM agreements at the Official Launch of Start-Up@Singapore 2008
Singapore has signed a slew of 17 agreements with China to develop the two countries' interactive digital media (IDM) industries. Speaking to The Straits Times at the launch of the annual entrepreneurial competition Start-Up@Singapore, MDA's Deputy CEO Michael Yap said the collaboration was a good fit as Singapore is well versed in developing computer games and animations, while China boasts advanced media filming equipment and computing software.

15 Sept 2007 - Young entrepreneurs win again in Taipei
It seems like the accolades just can't stop rolling in for these young, enterprising students from Hwa Chong Institution. In spite of being the youngest participants, their performance was praised by judges, mentors and competitors alike. After bagging the top prize of $5,000 in the Youth Category of Start- Up@Singapore 2007, Agrotech has gone on to clinch the Best New Markets Award at the Global Talentrepreneur Competition 2007 held in Taipei.
