Advisors
Yeo Keng Joon
Keng Joon is currently a Managing Partner of Global Biotech Singapore, an investment and consulting company with interests in Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka and Singapore. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Malaya and an MBA from the NUS. He is a past President of the NUS MBA Alumni Association, Founder President of the NUS Business School Alumni Association and a member of the NUS Alumni Advisory Board. Keng Joon strongly supports entrepreneurship and has been personally involved in various initiatives to inculcate the entrepreneurial spirit amongst the youth in Singapore. He also supports the under-privileged in society and is active in community outreach projects such as helping St Luke Hospital (Singapore) in reviewing their business strategies, conducting workshops for the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, helping orphanages in Nagapatinam (India) and Galle (Sri Lanka) affected by the tsunami and contributing to typhoon victims in Vungtao (Vietnam). In July 2007, Keng Joon was recognized for his services to NUS and presented with the NUS Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
Bernard Leong
Bernard is an Adjunct Research Fellow with the NUS Entrepreneurship Centre. He is also a trusted advisor and mentor to the NUS Entrepreneurship Society and Start-Up@Singapore.
Douglas Abrams
Douglas is the Founder and CEO of Expara, a business accelerator for interactive and digital media companies. He is also a Founding Partner of Parallax Capital Management, a fund management company. Prior to coming to Singapore, Douglas managed the IT division at J.P.Morgan for 14 years. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the NUS' prestigious Business School where he lectures on New Venture Creation for undergraduates and postgraduates. He is also the Co-Deputy Chairman of the Business Angel Network (South East Asia). Douglas graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School with a BA in Communications and received an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
Joey Gan
Joey has been an advisor with Start-Up@Singapore since 2005 and brings with her more than 16 years of experience in sales, marketing and business development of information systems, business consulting and financial services across a wide range of industries. She was based in Hong Kong for nearly 11 years covering the North Asian region before returning to Singapore in 2003. Joey is currently a Director of Business Development with a global firm in professional services. She has also served on the Board of Directors of the NUS Business School Alumni Association since 2004 and is the current Honorary Secretary.
Lee Junior
As Director and Co-Founder of ACE Nexus Pte Ltd, a boutique M&A house, Lee Junior is in charge of identifying and marrying companies through M&A and raising funds for innovative companies that require financing from equity investors and financial institutions such as venture capital funds, corporate investors and high net worth individuals. Having started his first business venture more than 15 years ago, Lee represents a new breed of young entrepreneurs with extensive experience and network, which spans across diverse industries ranging from high-tech start-up companies and SMEs to MNCs. Besides serving on the Board of Directors of the NUS Business School Alumni Association, Lee is also an Advisor to The NUS Entrepreneurship Society, a member of the Business Angel Network (South East Asia), SAFTI Alumni Association and MENSA (Singapore), an Adjunct Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at various IHLs and an avid triathlete. A graduate from the NUS Business School, Lee is well-versed in both the Art and Science of Strategies and Game Theory.
Kaiying Chin
Kaiying is a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering at the National University of Singapore. She is the Immediate Past President of the NUS Entrepreneurship Society and was Vice-Lead of Start-Up@Singapore 2007. As an advisor to Start-Up@Singapore 2008, she hopes to share her knowledge and experiences with the new team and continue to nurture, motivate and inspire a new generation of dynamic entrepreneurs. Having spent the first 18 years of her life in New Zealand, where she was actively engaged in volunteerism and fund-raising for social causes, Kaiying is passionate about social entrepreneurship and loves working with a diverse team and towards a common goal. For leisure, she enjoys dancing, golf, cuisine, travel, literature and being Mother Kiwi to the awesome team behind Start-Up@Singapore 2008.
Kenneth Tan
Kenneth is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Exoro Pte Ltd, a business simulation game company which aims to educate the youth about entrepreneurship. He was the Chief Financial Officer of Start-Up@Singapore 2006 where he was responsible for raising funds and overseeing the organization of events for the competition. Besides working in Advanced Micro Devices and Aztech Systems, he was also featured and involved in writing a marketing textbook titled "Advertising, Principles and Effective IMC Practice".
Patrick Chan
Patrick currently holds the position of Director of Industry Development at the Singapore Business Federation (SBF) where he spearheads the development of emerging major cross-sectoral industries including clean and sustainable energy, franchising, infocomm technology, design etc. He is also the Director of the Young Business Leaders Forum Secretariat, a platform initiative under SBF to nurture the next generation under-40s business leaders. Patrick was previously Assistant General Manager at Corporate Brokers International, an investment and private equity firm. Prior to this, he held various management and leadership positions at NUS Enterprise, KPMG Consulting and Singapore Airlines (SIA), where he started as an SIA scholar. Patrick currently serves as the Vice President of the NUS MBA Alumni Association and as a member of the International Advisory Board of Talentrepreneur Innovation and Collaboration Association International.
Tan Tzann Chang
Tzann had been involved in Start-Up@Singapore since its inception in various capacities as a judge, mentor, and in the last few years, as a member of the Steering Committee. He is an alumnus of NUS' Department of Information and Computer Sciences (DISCS) - the School of Computing's predecessor - and the NUS Business School. He has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry and is currently a faculty member of ISS NUS.
